Balance between dairy Production and Exports worldwide
Although global dairy exports account for only a fraction of total milk production,
they are a key factor influencing dairy markets worldwide.
Prices are driven by the balance between supply and demand, which in turn are affected by climatic and environmental conditions, geopolitical dynamics, and economic and financial factors.
On this page, you can monitor the balance between Production and Exports
across the main dairy-exporting Countries.
You can also compare the relative weight of different geographic regions in terms of milk production on a monthly basis (local sources) and on an annual basis (FAO), and monthly exports data (source: IHS).
The following two charts exclude intra-trade among the main exporting Countries in order to focus on global exports to the rest of the world, generally represented by less self-sufficient importing markets.
