Milk: Comparative study in the European market area

This page focuses on a historical perspective that highlights the differences - in figures - of farm-gate raw milk prices within Europe. We have therefore produced:
  1. a table displaying, in chronologic order, the monthly average price of farm-gate raw milk in Lombardy;

  2. a line highlighting the national inflation rates (the consumer price index CPI) and the stock volume of Grana Padano as at 30 June, which serve to provide us with a more in-depth understanding;

  3. a table presenting, in chronologic order, the differences in annual price between farm-gate milk from other countries and farm-gate milk from the Lombardy Region.

N.B.: The decision to take stocks of Grana Padano into consideration derives from a series of connecting factors: Grana Padano is the predominant destination of milk produced in Italy, to the extent of 24%. A variation linked to the Grana Padano cycle (production, national [domestic consumption] and international [exports] market sales, wholesale and consumer prices, storage, etc.) has repercussions on milk prices.
