This activity consists in identifying agri-food products and good standing food manufacturers following an accurate screening process.
The products are selected on the basis of their good quality manufacture and are generally produced by small and medium-sized accredited Cooperatives and/or Manufacturers.
CLAL is particularly focused on Typical Products, which include a wide range of foodstuffs, from Traditional Products to Traditional Specialities Guaranteed, which are all of a proven quality.
The foodstuffs CLAL deals with are mainly Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and/or Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) products.
Some examples are:
- Typical cheeses including Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano, Gorgonzola, Provolone Valpadana, Asiago, Montasio, Mozzarella di Bufala, Pecorino Romano and Pecorino Sardo, ..., which highlight the specific characteristics of Italy's diverse territory.
- Extra virgin olive oil and balsamic Vinegar of Modena
- Typical meat-based products, Prosciutto di Parma
CLAL also deals with:
- wines from some Italian regions, with Controlled Designation of Origin (DOC) and Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin ("DOCG") which often have special quality mentions, indicating a Specific Geographic Link Area (IGT and VQPRD).
