Note 1

The world trade is based on the Harmonized System of international nomenclature codes.
(HS: Harmonized System Codes).
Products are identified by 2-8 digit codes:
2 digits code: chapter;

which classify the products by economic activity or component material.

The analysis about Butter, SMP, WMP and Cheese exports worldwide is based on the data of the leading exporting countries (which are: the US, Argentina, New Zealand, EU-27, Ukraine, Switzerland, Norway, Brazil). Please view Table D: Summary: export trend of the main players.

Note 4

Export quantity of a product which is declared by a Country could differ by imports of the same product which are declared by the referring Purchasing country.

The reasons could be:
  1. Some data are gathered by surveys and not by customs declarations.
  2. The number of Companies in each country which can declare the trading data is limited.
  3. It is possible that a Purchasing Country, which is the Partner country of an Exporter, is not the final destination of a product, but only the first transit country through which products are transported to the final destination in a third country.
    On the other hand, the Supplying Country, which is Partner country of the Purchaser, is the country of origin (Normal Model), except for the the EU countries, for which the Supplier is the country of dispatch and not of origin (Eurostat Model).
    For the sake of clarity, we attach the "Normal and Eurostat Import Export Model Illustrated" scheme provided by IHS / GTA.
